Qualcomm separates its Snapdragon brand
Qualcomm is announcing some big changes to its product and brand identity. The company said it has separated ‘Qualcomm’ and ‘Snapdragon’ brands, introduced new representative colors, and a new naming structure of single-digit series and generation number. In a press statement, the chipmaker said, “Snapdragon will be a standalone product brand with specific ties to the Qualcomm brand where appropriate.” The biggest change is how the company names its chips across the categories. currently, it follows three digit naming scheme for its chipsets. Going forward, the company will follow a single-digit naming convention just like it does with its Pc processors (Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 or 7c Gen 2). The company will introduce new representative colors for Snapdragon including Gunmetal, midnight, Nickel, Gold, and Snapdragon red. It will also drop the 5G branding from their chipset and will also be rolling out a new logo signifying changes.
