Instagram will focus more on Reels this year
Meta-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram is aiming to focus more on video content in 2022 and will focus more on Reels. Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, said that the platform will “double down” on video and focus on Reels. He noted that the app will consolidate its video products around Reels and continue to grow that product. For the creators, he said that the app will introduce more monetisation tools for creators to help them make a living. He further said that Instagram will focus on messaging and transparency this year. Instagram has been making some changes to how to handles videos in recent months. Mosseri touched on some updates that Instagram made in 2021 centered around giving users more control over their experience. He highlighted features like sensitive content controls, the ability to hide like counts and Hidden Words in direct messages. He said that a version of the chronological feed will return in 2022 as well.
