Doosan Bob­cat In­dia Pvt. Ltd. is a sub­sidiary of the Doosan Group, which took over the global busi­ness of Bob­cat and Por­ta­ble Power Busi­ness of Inger­soll Rand in 2007. Inger­soll Rand pi­o­neered the in­tro­duc­tion of por­ta­ble power com­pres­sors and light tow­ers in In­dia.

Doosan Bob­cat In­dia’s Por­ta­ble Power busi­ness has its man­u­fac­tur­ing plant in Dod­dbal­la­pura, Ban­ga­lore, for mak­ing a full line of com­pres­sors for use in the con­struc­tion, min­ing, and wa­ter-well drilling in­dus­tries, while its Light Tow­ers cater to the needs of the in­fra­struc­ture and min­ing sec­tors.

Com­pres­sors

Doosan Por­ta­ble Power’s range of por­ta­ble air com­pres­sors are avail­able from 260 to 1400 cfm, with pres­sures rang­ing from 100 to 365 psi. These durable, rugged and ver­sa­tile com­pres­sors are rig­or­ously tested to en­sure their per­for­mance in the harsh­est of con­di­tions and of­fers numer­ous op­tions for cus­tomiza­tion. The com­pany has a full-fledged R&D Cen­ter in In­dia and the ca­pa­bil­ity to de­sign com­pres­sor and light tower pack­ages.

The com­pres­sors can be clas­si­fied un­der small, medium, and large. The small range com­pres­sors (260 to 415 cfm with 100 to 125 psi pres­sure range), are widely used in quar­ry­ing of blue metal and gran­ite, and for abra­sive blast­ing and in road con­struc­tion. The medium range [400 to 675 cfm with 100 to 210 psi (7 to 14.5 bar)] com­pres­sors are used in min­ing with crawler drills, cabin mounted drills for tun­nel­ing, mech­a­nized min­ing in large quar­ries, Abra­sive blast­ing & shotcreet­ing and are ex­ca­va­tor mounted for re­mov­ing coal over­bur­den. The com­pres­sors are also used for wa­ter-well drilling by mount­ing them on trucks for wa­ter ta­ble depths of 200-700 feet (ap­prox.) with 4½

and 6½ inch drills. These com­pres­sors are of­fered with Ashok Ley­land and Cum­mins en­gines and come with pre-clean­ers to work in high dust en­vi­ron­ment, main­te­nance-free bat­ter­ies, etc.

The large com­pres­sors (1100 to 1350 cfm with 300 to 365 psi) are mounted on trucks and are used for drilling wa­ter-wells with drills rang­ing from 4½ to 10½ inches where wa­ter depths are from 100-2000 plus feet.

Por­ta­ble Light Tow­ers

The Doosan Por­ta­ble Light Tower is a highly mo­bile and flex­i­ble light­ing ac­ces­sory, ca­pa­ble of de­liv­er­ing 1600 and 4000 watts of day light for light­ing up lo­ca­tions where erec­tion of per­ma­nent fix­tures is not pos­si­ble or is in­con­ve­nient. The Light Tow­ers are per­fectly suited for tem­po­rary light­ing of ir­ri­ga­tion and dam projects, air­port work, road con­struc­tion projects, wind & so­lar en­ergy projects, metro rail work sites, min­ing ar­eas, and for gen­eral con­struc­tion.

In­fra­struc­ture & Cus­tomer Sup­port

Doosan de­signs and pro­duces its own air ends, which are crit­i­cal for the per­for­mance of a screw com­pres­sor. The hall­marks of Doosan com­pres­sors are their rugged­ness, re­li­a­bil­ity to work un­der harsh con­di­tions, qual­ity build, and long life. With a wellestab­lished ven­dor base, Doosan has the ca­pa­bil­ity to quickly scale up and meet mar­ket re­quire­ments.

Doosan has a net­work of of­fices and deal­er­ships in In­dia to pro­vide ser­vice and sup­port for its prod­ucts, in­clud­ing an­nual main­te­nance con­tracts, and ex­change pro­grams. Its sales team of­fers the right ad­vice to cus­tomers on min­ing/wa­ter-well drilling so­lu­tions, in­clud­ing cus­tomiza­tion, by study­ing their spe­cific re­quire­ments. Doosan’s aim is to help cus­tomers en­hance the life of their prod­ucts, and it places a lot of em­pha­sis on train­ing its sales and ser­vice team, with con­tin­u­ous skill upgra­da­tion pro­grams for its em­ploy­ees, deal­ers, and cus­tomers.

Busi­ness out­look

Over the last few years, Doosan has in­tro­duced prod­ucts built on a strin­gent stage-gate process with a thor­ough un­der­stand­ing of cus­tomer needs and a rigourous ho­molo­ga­tion process. Doosan has slew of new prod­ucts and plans to in­tro­duce more new and con­tem­po­rary prod­ucts in the com­ing years for its cus­tomers. Prod­ucts are also be­ing ex­ported from In­dia to the neigh­bor­ing coun­tries.
