Es­sel In­fra wins ₹17-bn freight cor­ri­dor con­tract

Es­sel In­frapro­jects has re­cently bagged In­dia's first Rail­way project un­der an­nu­ity mode in­volv­ing ₹17.06 bil­lion for the Eastern Freight Cor­ri­dor con­nect­ing Howrah and Chennai main line. Es­sel In­fra has emerged as the win­ner, ahead of IRCON In­ter­na­tional, an In­dian Rail­ways rail-un­der-bridge (RUB), foot-over-bridge (FOB), plat­form shel­ters, wa­ter sup­ply and waste dis­posal sys­tem, drainage and bank pro­tec­tion.

Cen­tre sanc­tions ₹5,000 cr for rail cor­ri­dor in NE

The Cen­tral gov­ern­ment has re­cently an­nounced an in­vest­ment of over ₹5,000 crore to con­struct a 12-km-long el­e­vated rail­way cor­ri­dor in the midst of Guwahati city, Chief Pub­lic Re­la­tion Of­fi­cer (CPRO) of North­east Fron­tier Rail­way (NFR), Pranav Jy­oti Sharma said, elab­o­rat­ing that the rail­way is cur­rently un­der­tak­ing the fi­nal lo­ca­tion sur­vey which started 2 months back and will be com­pleted soon and a ten­der will be floated for ex­e­cu­tion of the work.

Kerala cracks ₹56,430 cr rail projects

Decks have been cleared for the prepa­ra­tion of de­tailed project re­port (DPR) of the vi­able projects for fur­ther de­vel­op­ment of rail­way cor­ri­dor on a cost­shar­ing ba­sis be­tween Rail­ways and State through Kerala Rail­way De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion Ltd (KRDCL) en­tail­ing an in­vest­ment of about ₹56,430 crore. The projects in­clude the 510 km third and fourth rail­way line from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod, 181 km rail­way line from Tha­lassery via Manan­thavady to Mysuru, 12 km rail con­nec­tiv­ity from Balarama­pu­ram to up­com­ing Vizhin­jam In­ter­na­tional Deep­wa­ter sea­port and 125.5 km Rapid Rail Tran­sit Sys­tem from Thiruvananthapuram to Chen­gan­nur.

Rax­aul- Kathmandu rail line gains mo­men­tum

In­dia and Nepal have re­cently agreed to ini­ti­ate work on the Rax­aul-Kathmandu rail line for which a team of In­dian au­thor­i­ties has al­ready con­ducted the first round of sur­vey to con­nect the In­dian rail with Kathmandu. The Nepali side ap­pre­ci­ated the In­dian gov­ern­ment's sup­port in the de­vel­op­ment of the In­dia-Nepal Cross Bor­der Rail Links to en­hance peo­ple-topeo­ple link­age and pro­mote eco­nomic growth and de­vel­op­ment in the re­gion.

Rail­way takes up ₹165.67 cr line in Uttarakhand

The In­dian Rail­ways is all set to launch two new rail lines in Uttarakhand at an in­vest­ment of ₹167.67 crore in­clud­ing con­nect­ing Cham­pawat district's Tanakpur town to Delhi and Naini­tal's Lalkuan town­ship with south­ern In­dia. GM, North­East­ern Rail­way, Ra­jiv Agar­wal said adding that it will also con­struct un­der bridge at Lalkua-Kath­go­dam line and that the ex­pan­sion of rail net­work in the state will boost tourism in a big way.

PMC clears twin metro routes ex­pan­sion

The Pune Mu­nic­i­pal Cor­po­ra­tion (PMC) has ap­proved the prepa­ra­tion of a de­tailed project re­port (DPR) for two ad­di­tional Metro routes. In this con­nec­tion, the stand­ing com­mit­tee has given its nod to the pro­posal and has asked the Ma­ha­rash­tra Metro Rail Cor­po­ra­tion Ltd (Maha-Metro) to pre­pare the DPR to steer clear the project. While work on the Vanaz-Ramwadi route is al­ready in progress, the new routes will con­nect Ramwadi to Wagholi and Pune In­ter­na­tional Air­port.

Chennai metro charts out ₹85,047 cr ex­pan­sion

In an at­tempt to kick start the con­struc­tion of the Phase-II of the metro project, CMRL be­gins the process of ac­quir­ing land re­quired to build the am­bi­tious 107.55km metro project at an in­vest­ment of ₹85,047 crore. The project, which is await­ing Cen­tre's nod, is aimed at link­ing the north­ern and south­ern sub­urbs with the city cen­tre.

Rail­way to get first DFC trains on In­de­pen­dence Day

In­dian Rail­ways is set to get its first pub­liclyowned ded­i­cated cor­ri­dor for freight trains on Au­gust 15, when the coun­try cel­e­brat­ing its 72nd In­de­pen­dence Day. The PM will ded­i­cate the 190-km rail­way DFC line be­tween Dadri in Ut­tar Pradesh and Phulera in Ra­jasthan fall­ing un­der the Western Ded­i­cated Freight Cor­ri­dor (WDFC).

Ma­hametro inks JV for ₹67,000 cr rapid rail net­work

In­dian Rail­ways has al­lo­cated a whop­ping sum worth ₹ 67,000 crore for the de­vel­op­ment of Sub ur­ban rail net­work in Mum­bai, which is used by one third of to­tal Rail­way pas­sen­gers in In­dia. In this con­nec­tion it has re­cently inked MoU with In­dian Rail­ways for in­tro­duc­ing Mass Rapid Tran­sit Sys­tem (MRTS), which is go­ing to be the first of its kind project in the coun­try as it will con­nect ad­join­ing towns of Nag­pur.

NLC bets big on ₹4,761 cr track dou­bling

For North­ern Coal­fields Ltd (NCL), a min­ing sub­sidiary of state-owned Coal In­dia, 201819 is a land­mark year as its coal pro­duc­tion is ex­pected to breach the 100 mil­lion ton (mt) mark, from 93 mt in 2017-18 and now the com­pany is bet­ting big on the track dou­bling on the Katni-Sin­grauli and Sin­grauli-Ramna routes at an in­vest­ment of ₹4,761 crore.
