An Android-based vacuum cleaner!

-

Samsung has developed an Android application for the Navibot, a robotic vacuum cleaner, to help users control the robot remotely via their Android handsets. Navibot S is a robotic vacuum cleaner, which is an improved version of the older Navibot. It comes with several modifications, including finding its way through your living room with the help of its camera. The camera takes pictures at a rate of 30 frames per second, turning them into a digital map of the room. This helps in avoiding cleaning the same spot repeatedly. The camera also acts like a webcam, and the video can be viewed through your phone—which is useful when the burglar alarm goes off, or when you want to keep an eye on your pet or little child.

The device has an intelligent mapping technology, which helps it to clean the room or house conveniently. The application also uses the microphone and camera of the phone to let you know the location of the robot. Navibot S automatically empties the garbage in a central dustbin. It also goes back to the docking station when it senses that its battery is low. It resumes work after it empties its dustbin and is recharged.

Navibot, the previous version of the vacuum cleaner, is already available in certain markets like Singapore. This new version is likely to be available in the next six months or so. It is not yet known whether Navibot S will be available in India or not. However, a similar automatic vacuum cleaner called Euroclean Robocleanz, from Eureka Forbes, is already available in the country. It is priced at Rs 6,600, but lacks the phone control feature.
