OpenSource For You

Help with Ubuntu required!

-

I would really like to congratulate Team LFY for doing such a tremendous job on covering technology related to Linux and open source. Your magazine is very useful and has made me deeply interested in the open source world. However, I would like to share some suggestions with you. 1) Ubuntu is a good operating system for netbooks and laptops but I sometimes get confused as it doesn't provide software packages such as Fedora. I am a second year B.CA student. Since it is useful for my career, I would like to get all the packages of Ubuntu in an installable DVD form. 2) You had bundled the Linux Mint 12 in the Febuary 2012 issue of LFY but it is not as fast as Ubuntu. It lacks certain design elements when it comes to themes, the interface, fonts, etc, in comparison to Ubuntu. 3) I am also facing a problem with the Ubuntu bootloader. How do I edit bootimage in the Ubuntu system? I am aware that it is the grub.conf file in the etc directory but I am getting a grub2 there instead. I am unable to locate it.
