Ruby cre­ator recog­nised with Free Soft­ware award

Yuk­i­hiro Mat­sumoto (a.k.a. Matz), the cre­ator of the uby pro­gram­ming lan­guage, won the award for the Ad­vance­ment of Free Soft­ware at the re­cently held Free Soft­ware Foun­da­tion’s Li­bre Planet con­fer­ence in Bos­ton. The award recog­nises an in­di­vid­ual who has made a great con­tri­bu­tion to the progress and de­vel­op­ment of free soft­ware, through ac­tiv­i­ties that are in ac­cord with the spirit of free soft­ware. Luis Fal­con bagged the FSF’S award for Projects of So­cial Bene t on be­half of GNU Sol­i­dario for its GNU ealth project.
