CyanogenMod version 11.0 M1 ROM (based on KitKat) released

The Android KitKat version of Cyanogen Inc’s CyanogenMod 11.0 M1 ROM has been released. According to reports, the ROM has currently been released for a select few Nexus devices only. These include the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 smartphones and the Nexus 10 tablet, along with all the editions of the Nexus 7

tablet. Perhaps the change is because of the team becoming a company, but CM would normally have been releasing nightlies at this time, instead of making a monthly release for the Nexus devices.

Explaining the move, the company wrote on its blog, “Some background on this change of order. Normally, this would be the point in time when we turn on CM 11 nightlies. From there, we would spend the next few weeks (or longer) in the nightlies, all the while not allowing you guys (the users) to offer support in the form of bug reports. Taking reports against the constantly changing nightly codebase is too resource intensive, but at the same time, waiting another month to get them going is, in all honesty, wasted time. So, with this change, we are going for the best of both.”
