Simmtronic­s, a brand that has carved a niche for itself in the tablet space, has joined the smartphone brigade. The company has launched its first smartphone, the XPad M1 Amazoid, which runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). The smartphone comes with an 11.93 cm (4.7 inch) capacitive touch screen and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual core processor. Packed with an 1800 mAh battery, it has an 8 MP rear and a 2 MP front camera. The XPad M1 Amazoid is powered with 512 MB of RAM and has 4 GB of internal memory. Says Indrajit Sabharwal, managing director, Simmtronic­s, “Smartphone usage is increasing day by day. Keeping in mind the demand for budget smartphone­s, venturing into the segment was the next logical step for us. Moreover, unlike others, we are planning to manufactur­e smartphone­s in India.”
