Google recently started rolling out its Google Play Service update 5.0 to all the devices. This version is an advance from the existing 4.4, bringing the Android wearable services API and much more. Mainly focused on developers, this version was announced in 2014. According to the search giant’s blog, the newest version of the Google Play store includes many updates that can increase app performance. These include wearable APIs, dynamic security provider, improvements in Drive, Wallet and Google Analytics, etc. The main focus is on the Android Wearable platform and APIs, which will enable more applications on these devices. In addition to this, Google has announced a separate section for Android Wear apps in the Play store.
These apps for the Android Wear section in the Google Play store come from Google itself. The collection includes official companion apps for Android devices, Hangouts and Google Maps. The main purpose of the Android Wear Companion app is to let users manage their devices from Android smartphones. It provides voice support, notifications and more. There are third party apps as well from Pinterest, Banjo and Duolingo.
