VLC Me­dia Player 3.0.0: One of the most an­tic­i­pated apps of 2015

VLC Me­dia Player is all set to launch ver­sion 3.0.0, which will have many new fea­tures and sev­eral im­prove­ments. This new edi­tion is be­ing ea­gerly awaited by mil­lions of com­puter users across the globe. Some of the high­lighted fea­tures of VLC 3.0.0 are sup­port for Way­land, Chrome­cast out­put mod­ule, nu­mer­ous An­droid im­prove­ments (like ro­ta­tion, opaque and sub­pic­ture blend­ing) and batch con­vert sup­port.

The up­com­ing re­lease will also sup­port ARIB STD-B24 sub­ti­tles, of­fer HEVC hard­ware decoding, im­prove­ments in the MMAL de­coder, a new BPG de­coder, bet­ter sup­port for MPEG-DASH and a video fil­ter which will al­low con­ver­sion be­tween FPS rates. Be­sides th­ese, there will be sup­port for Sys­temD Jour­nal, OpenGL as de­fault video out­put on GNU/Linux and BSD op­er­at­ing sys­tems, HDS (HTTP Dy­namic Stream­ing) sup­port, DVB-T2 sup­port, Daala video sup­port, HD-DVD .evo sup­port, Opus in MPEG Trans­port Stream, WMAV and WMV sup­port in MP4/MOV and sup­port for Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite. There has been no word yet on when the fi­nal ver­sion will be avail­able as not even a sin­gle RC has been re­leased yet.
