Ubuntu 12.04 LTS gets major kernel update

Canonical has released a major new kernel update for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) operating system. The new update patches 19 vulnerabil­ities within the Linux kernel of Ubuntu’s Precise Pangolin build.

Ubuntu Security Notice USB2967-1 reveals the new kernel update. It comes under version linuximage-3.2.0-102 (3.2.0-102.142) and is designed for hardware architectu­res such as 64-bit, 32bit, PowerPC (PPC) and ARM HighBank as well as ARM OMAP.

Although the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS was originally released in April 2012, Canonical keeps on supporting the Long Term Support version. It was the first Ubuntu release to receive official support for five years.
