Google Assistant-enabled speakers launched in India
Google Home and Google Home Mini are the two Google Assistantenabled speakers available in
India now.
Google Home is a cylindrical smart speaker with an angled top, and LED indicators that change patterns and colours as per the actions performed. With a touch surface on the top, a user can control playback, volume and also activate Google Assistant by simply calling out, “Hey, Google!”
Google Home comes with a 5.08cm (2 inch) driver and dual 5.08cm (2 inch) passive radiators; it offers connectivity options like dualband (2.4GHz and 5GHz) Wi-Fi 802.11ac. As for the audio formats, it supports HE-AAC, LC-AAC+, MP3, Vorbis, etc. It also supports Chromecast, enabling users to stream movies, shows and music to their connected TVs or Cast speakers.
Google Home Mini, on the other hand, comes only in fabric based designs, and has four indicators on top with control mechanisms on both the left and right side to change the volume level, start or stop alarms, timers, etc.
Sporting a non-skid silicone base, the Mini speaker supposedly delivers 360-degree sound, and comes with a 40mm driver and a microphone with far field voice recognition.
On the connectivity front, the Home Mini offers dual band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth v4.1.
Both the speakers, Google Home and Google Home Mini, run on Android 4.4 KitKat and higher, and iOS 9.1 and higher. They are available online and at retail stores with multiple offers and discounts.
