DVD OF THE MONTH

This month’s DVD carries the latest version of Ubuntu with long term support.

Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (64-bit live)

Ubuntu is an open source software operating system that runs on the desktop, the cloud, and all your Internet connected devices. It is a fast, secure and simple OS that powers millions of PCs worldwide.

This long term support (LTS) release is optimised for the multi-cloud infrastructure, machine learning, AI and software development. Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, code named Bionic Beaver, comes with the Linux Kernel 4.15 and many security enhancements.

Lubuntu 18.04 LTS (32-bit)

Lubuntu is an official Ubuntu flavour that uses the Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment (LXDE). The project’s goal is to provide a lightweight yet functional Linux distribution based on a rock solid Ubuntu base. Lubuntu 18.04 LTS has also been released with the code name Bionic Beaver, and has support until April 2021. You can find the ISO image in the other_isos folder on the root of the DVD.

Ubuntu Budgie 18.04 LTS (64-bit)

Using Ubuntu Budgie provides you with the freedom to run a complete, full-featured operating system, preconfigured with most, if not all, of the applications you will need for your daily computing. It combines the simplicity and elegance of the Budgie interface to produce a traditional desktop oriented distro with a modern paradigm. Budgie is a desktop environment focused on having a clean yet powerful system without unnecessary bloat. You can find the ISO image in the other_isos folder on the root of the DVD.
