Focused discussions through Breakaway sessions
An important change introduced in OAC 2013 was the new format followed through the Breakaway Sessions, which had presentations running simultaneously catering to different audience groups including Specialist Agencies, Media Owners and the regional advertisers with topics relevant to each particular group. The focus of each session was paving the way forward with regard to different aspects of the industry and arriving at some commonly acceptable approaches to GLIIHUHQW SUREOHPV DIflLFWLQJ WKH LQGUVWUY, ZKLFK KDV always been the vision of OAC. For example on Day I there was a break-away session on ‘OOH Media – Expectation and Delivery’ with two discussions running simultaneously with one moderated by Lokesh Kumar – OOH Consultant, Keyur Shah – CEO Precious Metals Business, Muthoot Pappachan Group and Kalim Lohar, Associate VP –Earth Group of Companies and the other by Praveen Kumar Vadhera -- Country Head–Bates Wallstreet, Parag Desai, – Executive Director – Sales and Marketing, Wagh Bakri Tea Group and Bharat Dhuppar – CMO, Omkar Realtors & Developers. The other breakaway session was on ‘The Growing Business for Specialist Agencies in Asia – the Challenges and Opportunities’ presented by King F. Lai, CEO- Asia Pacific, Kinetic in which he stressed on consolidation, infrastructure, investment & Digital OOH as being the major areas which would help these specialist agencies to overcome the challenges and turn them into opportunities. Sam Balsara, CMD- Madison World, came next with his presentation on how specialist agencies could get rid of traders trade mark. His advice was: “know your strengths and weaknesses.” Simultaneously running during then was the session by Jesslina Sahi, Training consultant , Leap Ahead, whose presentation on ‘Lead to Excellence: The Importance of Soft Skills’ engaged the participants in a fun team activity. Another very interactive session was on ‘Master Class on Creativity for OOH media’ by Sonal Dabral - &KDLUPDQ & &KLHI &UHDWLYH 2IfiFHU - DD% 0UGUD GURUS DQG 6DQWRVK 3DGKL, &KLHI &UHDWLYH 2IfiFHU & &R-)RUQGHU - Taproot India who went back to the audience to come up with ideas that could take the medium forward. The session saw about 15 ideas coming out, all catering to different aspects of the OOH medium. The other session by Torsten IIIgen- Design Director - Inros Lackner, Vietnam focused on the need for an architect to plan a complete design solution for the out-of-home media and processes and maintain a difference between large scale and small scale media plan.
