NETGEAR WAC510 WITH MU-MIMO TECHNOLOGY

- — Ashok Pandey ashokpa@cybermedia.co.in

The NETGEAR AC WiFi Business Access Point (WAC510) is built for small business, such as cafés, doctor offices, and other service industry locations, requiring reliable WiFi for business applications and high-density public WiFi. It features the latest Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO) technology to achieve aggregate WiFi speeds up to 1.2Gbps and offers two Ethernet ports, including a Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) 1GbE port.

Instead of requiring a separate wireless controller at an additional cost, the WAC510 is managed by the new NETGEAR Insight app designed for mobile interfaces, offering the industry’s easiest-to-use experience for business access point deployment.

Easy to setup: The access point can be easily setup, after plugin with power and adding into the network, you can manage the device using simple to use UI. Its app is quite easy and useful, this allows even a new person to configure the device as well as track it.

Install the app on your Android or iOS device and create your account. Once done, you would get an option to choose your device and then move ahead. Just follow the app instructions to complete the setup which in my case took only a few minutes.

The app offers loads of features including tracking the connected devices and more.

Performance: We tested the signal performance of NETGEAR access point using an isolated ‘N’ network with the router connected to two machines, one wirelessly and the other with cable. Using the ‘Qcheck 3.0 benchmark, we checked average throughput with a 1000 KB payload. In this test, it clocked an average speed of 72 Mbps. We transferred 61 MB of data from one machine to the other and here too, the time of 9 seconds. Using Wi-Fi Network Analyzer, we tested the wireless speed of the router and it resulted in 73 MBPS of speed and -54 dBm of signal strength.

Bottomline: The access point comes with several interesting features and good transfer speed. It comes at the premium price, yet worth to consider investing the amount to not only enjoy the fast internet access also keep your network secure.
