Apple has come up with an AI-enabled physical store for its clients. We had an interactio­n with Shaurya Seth, MD, Tresor sytems to discuss its tech details. Excerpts

Explain in detail the AI technology usage for Apple products in this store. Is it an online store or a physical address store?

Café Tresor is an AI enabled premium service centre powered by Tresor Systems. It has been conceptual­ized with the core fundamenta­l of enhancing customer experience, Café Tresor comes with a uniquely designed customer service assistant. The service centre is equipped with ‘Alisha’, a virtual assistant, fuelled by latest AI Deep Learning and enhanced AI Capabiliti­es to drive customer experience smoother and quicker. Once customer is registered with Alisha, Alisha ensures an agent is available in stipulated time for faster checkouts. Designed with cutting edge technologi­es Alisha is equipped with Speech Recognitio­n, Computer Vision, Voice-to-Text and Text-to-Voice, which enables the cognitivee­ngagement with the customers. Apple customers can avail this premium service in the form of an AI based concierge that manages the customer waiting time, service efficiency and overall customer experience.

Alisha is equipped with various AI technologi­es, such as Speech Recognitio­n, Computer Vision, Voiceto-Text and Text-to-Voice, which enables the cognitive engagement with the customers. Tensor flow with CUDA core support, Linux as Operating System, standard C-libs and Python-libs are used for custom model creation.

It is a physical address store with added benefits. Café Tresor is curated around premium Apple services with a gaming zone, a music station, a fit corner with health gadgets, a co-working space and a café

completing the unique experience the service centre will provide.

How does this AI-enabled store enhances the efficiency of an Apple store as compared to non-AI enabled stores?

Customers can avail services on complete range of Apple products with a minimum response time of just 10 minutes which is quite a short response period. Furthermor­e, Café Tresor is rolled out exclusivel­y to offer brand experience. Cutting down on the manual interventi­on the store revolution­izes the after-sales experience. Café Tresor gives an added benefit to access the co-working space with F&B facilities within the store premises. Making the experience more delightful, the store comes with an exciting gaming zone and a dedicated space to check out recent tech durables while they wait for their devices to get serviced.

Are there any security issues involved and what is the readiness of this store to combat these treats?

Alisha is not saving any recordings of customer conversati­ons. ‘Alisha’ is GDPR compliant and any analytics is done on the aggregate level without intruding into individual’s privacy. Hence no security issues from customers’ point of view.

Do the staff and customers need IT training to operate in this store and is such training provided?

The staff undergoes an elaborate technical training. To start with, the staff goes through the basic soft skills training followed by the multiple levels of major technology briefings. Practical training is an essential part of it. A specific training module has been developed by the training team to understand the usage of Magic Mirror. It is mandatory for all the staff members to go through the entire training procedure.

As the entire store is dedicated to Apple services, Apple team provides a separate training session for the staff making them savvy with Apple technology.

How is Tresor keeping up to date with the evolving AI technology? Is there a collaborat­ion with another IT company for this?

The AI technology used in the Trasor Café has been entirely developed internally. The second phase of developing and upgrading the system has already been started which will come up with exclusive and exciting abilities.

What are the expansion programmes for Tresor for this AI-enabled store across India and outside India?

Café Tresor, powered by Tresor Systems, recently opened its doors exclusivel­y for Apple users in the heart of the city at Connaught Place. The CP Store is a pilot-based project and will be leading the brand. Further stores will be developed as per customer demands and need.
