Tata Steel bags award
Tata Steel was conferred with the prestigious CII-ITC Sustainability Award, 2013 in ‘Category A’ for large independent companies at the CII-ITC Sustainability Awards 2013, held in New Delhi recently. The company received recognition for its exemplary performance and contribution in the economic, social and environmental segment of its business. The award function was graced by Mr Sachin Pilot, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and witnessed the representation of dignitaries and representatives from the Government of India and leaders of the corporate world. Mr TV Narendran, Managing Director, Tata Steel (India and South East Asia) received the award.
“We are honoured to receive the CII- ITC Sustainability award which acknowledges Tata Steel’s efforts in the area of sustainability. How we achieve something is more important than what we achieve and sustainability is the reason for our existence. We believe in giving back to the society and these are the principles on which we build our company and we have adhered to these for 100 years and we would like to go forward with these,” he expressed delight.
Tata Steel has been awarded the sustainability prize in category A (for large independent companies with turnover of above Rs 2,000 crore). The award this year makes it the 6th time for the steel maker since 2006. The annual sustainability awards, instituted by the CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development are given to encourage and recognise Indian corporate who embed sustainability in their business performance and thereby champion inter-generational parity. They promote role models in Indian industry for excellence achieved by businesses in the area of sustainable development
