Tata Steel bags award

Tata Steel was con­ferred with the pres­ti­gious CII-ITC Sus­tain­abil­ity Award, 2013 in ‘Cat­e­gory A’ for large in­de­pen­dent com­pa­nies at the CII-ITC Sus­tain­abil­ity Awards 2013, held in New Delhi re­cently. The com­pany re­ceived recog­ni­tion for its ex­em­plary per­for­mance and con­tri­bu­tion in the eco­nomic, so­cial and en­vi­ron­men­tal seg­ment of its busi­ness. The award func­tion was graced by Mr Sachin Pi­lot, Min­is­ter of State for Cor­po­rate Af­fairs and wit­nessed the rep­re­sen­ta­tion of dig­ni­taries and rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the Gov­ern­ment of In­dia and lead­ers of the cor­po­rate world. Mr TV Naren­dran, Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor, Tata Steel (In­dia and South East Asia) re­ceived the award.

“We are hon­oured to re­ceive the CII- ITC Sus­tain­abil­ity award which ac­knowl­edges Tata Steel’s ef­forts in the area of sus­tain­abil­ity. How we achieve some­thing is more im­por­tant than what we achieve and sus­tain­abil­ity is the rea­son for our ex­is­tence. We be­lieve in giv­ing back to the so­ci­ety and th­ese are the prin­ci­ples on which we build our com­pany and we have ad­hered to th­ese for 100 years and we would like to go for­ward with th­ese,” he ex­pressed de­light.

Tata Steel has been awarded the sus­tain­abil­ity prize in cat­e­gory A (for large in­de­pen­dent com­pa­nies with turnover of above Rs 2,000 crore). The award this year makes it the 6th time for the steel maker since 2006. The an­nual sus­tain­abil­ity awards, in­sti­tuted by the CII-ITC Cen­tre of Ex­cel­lence for Sus­tain­able De­vel­op­ment are given to en­cour­age and recog­nise In­dian cor­po­rate who em­bed sus­tain­abil­ity in their busi­ness per­for­mance and thereby cham­pion in­ter-gen­er­a­tional par­ity. They pro­mote role mod­els in In­dian in­dus­try for ex­cel­lence achieved by busi­nesses in the area of sus­tain­able de­vel­op­ment
