Tata Power is sell­ing its in­ter­est in cer­tain over­seas coal and power in­fra­struc­ture as­sets. It has signed op­tion agree­ments with In­done­sian con­glom­er­ate Bakrie Group to sell a 5% stake in coal miner Kal­tim Prima and its en­tire 30% in power in­fra­struc­ture cos re­lated to Kal­tim Prima to re­duce debt and im­prove cash flow. The En­ergy and Re­sources In­sti­tute (TERI) an­nounced the Fifth US-In­dia En­ergy Part­ner­ship Sum­mit, which is sched­uled to take place from Septem­ber 30 - 1 Oc­to­ber 2014 in Wash­ing­ton, DC, dur­ing PM Naren­dra Modi’s visit to the US and in the wake of UN Sec­re­tary Gen­eral’s Cli­mate Sum­mit. The fo­cus of the di­a­logue was to ac­cel­er­ate the growth and devel­op­ment of sus­tain­able en­ergy part­ner­ships. The Aus­tralian gov­ern­ment cleared the pro­posed Carmichael coal mine project of Adani Min­ing in the Galilee Basin in cen­tral Queens­land. This is ex­pected to pro­vide elec­tric­ity for up to 100 mil­lion peo­ple in In­dia.
