Power flow com­mences at world’s high­est volt­age 1200 kV NTS at Bina

The world’s high­est volt­age 1200 kilo­volt (kV) has seen the light of dawn in the his­tory of power sec­tor in In­dia with the com­mence­ment of power flow at Power Grid’s national test sta­tion (NTS) de­vel­oped in­dige­nously at Bina in Mad­hya Pradesh. This land­mark has been achieved with the help of In­dian man­u­fac­tur­ers un­der pub­lic-pri­vate-part­ner­ship (PPP) model with ac­tive sup­port of Central Power Re­search In­sti­tute (CPRI), Central Elec­tric­ity Au­thor­ity (CEA) and Min­istry of Power. The test sta­tion con­sists of two 1200 kV bays with 1200 kV sin­gle cir­cuit (S/C) and dou­ble cir­cuit (D/C) test lines of a km each.

In a com­pany re­lated de­vel­op­ment, Pow­er­grid has posted a net profit of Rs 6,027 crore over a turnover of Rs 21,281 crore for FY 2015-16, reg­is­ter­ing a growth of about 20% in turnover and 21% in net profit as com­pared to FY 2014-15, on a stand­alone ba­sis.
