MNRE guidelines for setting up 1000 MW wind power projects in ISTS scheme

Power Watch India - - DESPATCHES NATIONAL -

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued guidelines for transparent bidding process for implementation of scheme to set up of 1000 MW wind power project connected to inter-state transmission system (ISTS). As per guidelines, wind power projects will be selected through open and transparent competitive bidding followed by e-reverse auction and the capacity may go higher than 1000 MW, if there is demand from buying entities. The ministry sanctioned the scheme to set up of 1000 MW ISTS connected wind power project on 14 June 2016. Its objective was to encourage competitiveness through scaling-up of project sizes and introduction of efficient and transparent e-bidding and e-auctioning processes.

”Offshore wind power to grow over six times by 2013 globally”

Globally offshore wind could grow more than 6.5 times by 2030, becoming a key power generation technology, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has predicted. The agency said that offshore wind power has the potential to grow from just 13 GW in 2015, to 100 GW in 2030. According to IRENA, technology innovation will be a key driver of the offshore wind boom. The report highlights upcoming innovations that will enable sector development, including next generation wind turbines with larger blades, and floating turbines, which will open up new markets in deeper waters.
