Plans for 800 MW project in Dubai

Mas­dar Group and Dubai Elec­tric­ity & Water Au­thor­ity (DEWA) have an­nounced plans to start con­struc­tion of the 800 MW project at the Mo­hammed bin Rashid Al Mak­toum So­lar Park in Dubai. The project will form phase III of the so­lar park which is set to have an even­tual ca­pac­ity of 5 GW. First So­lar is said to have com­mis­sioned the first phase of 13 MW, while Riyadh-based ACWA Power is work­ing on phase two of 200 MW. The fourth phase of the project will have a 1 GW ca­pac­ity. A Mas­dar Group–led con­sor­tium was con­firmed as the win­ner of the 800 MW so­lar power ten­der that was floated by DEWA last year. The con­sor­tium in­cludes Fo­towa­tio Re­new­able Ven­tures and Gran­so­lar Group.
