Al­la­habad Mu­seum is first en­ergy self-re­liant mu­seum

Apart from a new en­trance gate, a 3-D web­site and a new sales counter, the 87-year-old Al­la­habad Mu­seum, by us­ing so­lar pho­to­voltaic (SPV) tech­nol­ogy, has be­come the first mu­seum in the coun­try to be­come self-re­liant in power gen­er­a­tion. The so­lar en­ergy pan­els will re­port­edly help the mu­seum save up to Rs 2.32 lakh per year, which it used to pay to the Ut­tar Pradesh Power Cor­po­ra­tion Ltd (UPPCL) by way of elec­tric­ity bills. At least 220 so­lar pan­els have been set up on the mu­seum roof-top.
