LOTS Whole­sale So­lu­tions un­veils its first store in In­dia

LOTS Whole­sale So­lu­tions, a part of the USD 50 bil­lion Charoen Pokp­hand Group and a sub­sidiary of Siam Makro Public Com­pany Ltd from Thai­land, un­veiled its first whole­sale dis­tri­bu­tion cen­tre in In­dia at New Delhi. In­au­gu­rated by the Hon’ble Min­is­ter of Food Pro­cess­ing In­dus­tries Har­sim­rat Kaur Badal, this is the first of the fif­teen dis­tri­bu­tion cen­tres the firm is aim­ing to open in In­dia over the next three years. He com­pany an­nounced its foray into In­dia at the World Foods In­dia 2017 with a Mem­o­ran­dum of Un­der­stand­ing (MOU) worth 1,000 crors signed with the Min­istry of Food Pro­cess­ing In­dus­tries. The newly launched store will cater to over 50,000 reg­is­tered mem­bers, which in­clude ho­tels, restau­rants, cater­ers, ki­rana stores, cor­po­rates, MSMES and in­sti­tu­tions such as govern­ment agen­cies, ed­u­ca­tional in­sti­tutes and hos­pi­tals. Spread over an area of 50,000 sq. ft., LOTS Whole­sale So­lu­tions store is fully equipped with modern ware­hous­ing and stor­age fa­cil­i­ties for its mem­bers. With its ini­tial foot­print in Delhi NCR, the ini­tia­tive will help gen­er­ate 5,000 di­rect and in­di­rect jobs over the next five years.

The com­pany brings spe­cially cu­rated as­sort­ments, cat­e­go­rized into food and bev­er­ages, kitchen­ware, house­hold ap­pli­ances, home decor, fur­ni­ture, bed­ding, tex­tiles, elec­tronic prod­ucts, etc. LOTS Whole­sale So­lu­tions of­fers a var­ied set of ben­e­fits to its reg­is­tered mem­bers, in­clud­ing a wide range of prod­uct se­lec­tion at its stores based on de­tailed re­search specif­i­cally catered to the catch­ment area and mar­ket de­mand. Through trans­par­ent pric­ing, round the year pro­mo­tions, con­sis­tent prod­uct avail­abil­ity, cus­tom­ized last mile de­liv­ery and credit facilti­ties, the com­pany aims to pro­vide a has­sle-free shop­ping ex­pe­ri­ence to its mem­bers.

Un­der its re­gion-spe­cific business strat­egy, the ini­tia­tive will pro­vide sup­port to home-grown brands and lo­cal sup­pli­ers. Fresh pro­duce will be di­rectly sourced from lo­cal farm­ing com­mu­ni­ties, which will help farm­ers in­crease their in­come whilst re­duc­ing wastage dur­ing trans­porta­tion and stor­age. The firm plans to bring a num­ber of tech­no­log­i­cal in­ter­ven­tions in the re­tail seg­ment through ini­tia­tives like geo-tag­ging of cus­tomers to en­sure ef­fi­cient deliveries, e-mark­ing of prod­ucts and elec­tronic dis­play of prices and ex­piry dates on store shelves. Mem­bers can shop at LOTS in sev­eral dif­fer­ent ways that range from store walkins and de­liv­ery calls to or­der­ing on­line through the B2b e-com­merce por­tal.

Com­ment­ing on the oc­ca­sion of the launch, Har­sim­rat Kaur Badal said, “The In­dian re­tail sec­tor is grow­ing ex­po­nen­tially, and par­tic­u­larly the food re­tail seg­ment is over­tak­ing other prom­i­nent sec­tors. The ar­rival of multi­na­tional com­pa­nies like CP Whole­sale So­lu­tions in In­dia and the open­ing of chain stores in the coun­try shows the pop­u­lar­ity of Brand In­dia in the world. In­dia is on the road to be­com­ing a global food mar­ket along with a global food fac­tory.”
