Toning of the tummy post-delivery should be a slow and steady process. Make sure you do not put extra pressure on your abdominal muscles. Breastfeed your baby for the first six months, as it also helps reduce body fat. Drinking plenty of water and following a low fat diet go a long way in helping post-delivery. Use an abdominal belt or tummy binder after your abdominal muscles and tissues have healed. Consult a physician before starting any form of exercise. Usually, one should start with pelvic floor exercises and gradually shift to lower tummy muscle exercises like gentle situps. Brisk walking and yoga asanas like pranayama also can help shape the tummy and lose fat.
