SWEET SUCCESS

Comedian Bharti Singh's ‘I Believe' (‘SAVVY', October 2018) was an eyeopener! It touched my heart to read how she came up in life despite the many challenges life threw at her. The fact that she's made her mark in comedy, a male bastion in our country, is equally commendable. More power to our comedy queen! Asha Chauhan, Panipat

WINSOME! )

After winning a historic sixth gold in the World Championships and being conferred the ‘World's Best Woman Boxer' title, Mary Kom has once again proved that hard work, perseverance and a will to achieve are the only things needed to succeed. Congratulations to the feisty mother of three! We are more proud of you than ever before! Shaurya Sen, Kolkata

GREEN FEST )

Mumbaikars celebrated a less noisy Diwali, thanks to the 10 p.m deadline for crackers set by the Maharashtra Government. The air, incidentally, was less polluted too. A pat on the back of the Maharashtra Government for making some ‘sound' decisions! Tina Mistry, Mumbai

DISGRACE & HOPE )

It was shameful to know that the hostel warden of SRM University in Chennai asked the student, who complained of the cleaning staff masturbating in front of her, to keep mum. At the same time, kudos to the students of the college who gathered in hundreds to protest against the warden and demand action against the accused. When will people realize that the more you hush up such atrocities, the more you feed them? Yamini Nair, Pune

SADDENING!

The controversial call of dropping India's star player Mithali Raj from the Women's World T20 semifinals didn't go down well with most people, especially her fans. Controversies are the last thing the most successful cricketer in the Indian women's team would want to court, especially at the peak of her career. We just hope our favourite player doesn't crumble under pressure, and remains as graceful and dignified as ever. Kaveri Jacob, Bengaluru
