Founded in 1971 in Brazil’s Sao Paolo, Melissa is an iconic global footwear brand with in­ter­na­tional pres­ence in more than 96 coun­tries, in­clud­ing In­dia where it has re­cently set foot. To­day, Melissa is one of the world’s largest footwear man­u­fac­tur­ers, op­er­at­ing 12 fac­to­ries and em­ploy­ing more than 20,000 em­ploy­ees. Each year, the brand churns out 176 mil­lion pairs of shoes and launches 400 new prod­ucts. The brand claims that it has be­come a top per­form­ing brand un­der its par­ent com­pany, Gren­dene.

The brand re­tails a wide se­lec­tion of jelly shoes, bags, jew­ellery, and fra­grances. It claims that it stands for in­di­vid­u­al­ity, com­fort, great style and eco-friend­li­ness. Its hall­mark jelly shoes are made of 100% re­cy­clable plas­tic.

From famed stilet­tos to rec­og­nized flats, Melissa has re-in­vented the much-loved jelly, bring­ing style and com­fort to a whole new level. The brand boasts a panel of worl­drenowned de­sign­ers in­clud­ing Vivi­enne West­wood, Zaha Ha­did, the Cam­pana Broth­ers, Judy Blame, Karim Rashid, Jean Paul Gaultier, J Maskrey and Alexan­dre Her­ch­cov­itch.

The Brazil­ian brand has re­cently opened its first flag­ship store at Delhi’s DLF Prom­e­nade Mall. In In­dia, its ex­clu­sive fran­chisee is En­vi­ably Me In­dia Pvt Ltd. Ac­cord­ing to Ruchi Sally, Man­ag­ing Direc­tor of En­vi­ably Me In­dia, “Melissa is unique and is more than just a shoe, it’s a fash­ion ac­ces­sory that re­lates to life­style, giv­ing a per­fect blend of fash­ion with com­fort. It de­fines fash­ion in a unique yet sim­ple way - “Fash­ion is for all”. The Melissa col­lec­tions tell the story that brings new di­men­sions of fash­ion; its prod­ucts are unique in the In­dian mar­ket and we are get­ting very good re­sponse.”

Ruchi claims that since the launch the re­sponse is ‘great ev­ery day and In­dia is lov­ing the brand’. I am so thank­ful to the In­dian cus­tomers who have en­cour­aged us and they are happy that now they can shop from Melissa in In­dia rather than go­ing over­seas, she stresses. “With a tremen­dous re­sponse from first store in New Delhi at DLF Prom­e­nade, we have plans to open 2-3 stores in New Delhi fol­lowed by Mum­bai, the fash­ion cap­i­tal of the coun­try. We are happy to an­nounce we will be launch­ing Melissa e-com­merce soon.” In In­dia, its tar­get au­di­ence is women, tod­dles and girls. Its prod­ucts are also avail­able on ma­jor ecom­merce plat­forms.

Men­tion may be made that in­ter­na­tional de­sign brand Vivi­enne West­wood, a cham­pion of fash­ion sus­tain­abil­ity, has been col­lab­o­rat­ing with the brand since 2008. It also col­lab­o­rates with Karl Lager­feld, Jean Paul Gaultier and many more.
