Sony recently introduced the Planar T FE 50mm f/1.4 ZA full-frame lens for its E-mount camera system. Its significant features include fast, precise focus and versatile control for stills and movies.
Fujifilm Holdings Corp. filed a complaint against Sony Corp. and its two US subsidiaries, with the US International Trade Commission (ITC) over the alleged violation of patents on magnetic data storage tapes and cartridges made by Fujifilm Corp. The ITC will investigate Sony’s Linear Tape/ Open magnetic tape media for data storage and tape cartridges.
Samsung Electronics reported its biggest operating profit in more than two years. The high profit was boosted by robust sales of its Galaxy S7 smartphone and other cost control measures adopted by the company. Sluggish iPhone sales is also considered to be one of the reasons of Samsung’s soaring profits. Samsung reported operating income of $6.9 billion in the latest quarter.
DJI had acquired a minor stake in the iconic Swedish camera company Hasselblad in 2015. Following the acquisition, the duo have recently announced that they will team up for the development of a high-end aerial photography drone. The drone will take DJI’s M600 as the base combined with the Hasselblad’s powerful mediumformat aerial camera A5D, thus giving the best of both worlds.
Sony recently announced a delay in the launch of its FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS lens for its E-mount cameras. Though no specific reason was disclosed by the company, the launch will be delayed until September. The company also pushed back the release of two of its tele-converters — the SEL 14 TC converter and the SEL 20 TC 2X converter — for the delayed zoom lens.
