Venus Optics Releases New Lenses

Optics has announced the release of four Laowa lenses for L mount camera systems. First in line is the Laowa 4 mm f/2.8 Fisheye lens.
It is made of 7 elements in 6 groups, with a seven-blade aperture diaphragm and aperture range from f/2.8 through f/16. It features a minimum focussing distance of 80 mm, measures 25.5 mm in diameter, 45.2 mm in length and weighs 135 g. This lens will be available for purchase at a price of USD 199.
The next lens is Laowa 9 mm f/2.8 Zero-D lens. It is constructed of 15 elements in 10 groups, including 3 extra-low-dispersion elements and sports a ‘Frog Eye Coating’ design for repelling water and dirt from the front. It also features a seven-blade aperture diaphragm and has a minimum focussing distance of 12 cm, along with a 49 mm front filter thread. The lens measures 60 mm in diameter, 53 mm by length and weighs 215 g. This lens will be available for purchase at a price of USD 499.
Venus Optics has also launched the 24 mm f/14 2x Macro Probe lens, which is constructed of 27 elements in 19 groups, including multiple extra-low-dispersion and ‘prism’ elements. It features a sevenblade aperture diaphragm, an aperture range from f/14 through f/40 and a maximum magnification ratio of 2:1. The lens measures 38 mm in diameter, 408 mm by length and weighs 474 g. The lens will be available at a price of USD 1,499. The company has also announced the 25 mm f/2.8 2.5–5x Ultra Macro lens. This lens is made of 8 elements in 6 groups. Featuring an eight-blade aperture diaphragm and a varying minimum focussing distance of 17.3 mm (at 5x magnification) to 23.4 mm (at 2.5x magnification), the lens measures 65 mm in diameter and weighs 400g. This lens is scheduled to start shipping in March at a price of USD 399.
