Fujifilm Extends X Series Lineup
Fujifilm
has announced the addition of two new lenses, the XF 27 mm f/2.8 R WR lens and XF 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS WR lens, to its X Series digital cameras. The company has also announced the addition of mirrorless camera X-E4, to its X series lineup.
The XF 27 mm is a prime lens with a focal length of 27 mm, featuring an aperture ring with an F-stop scale. The lens includes weather resistance against dust and water and can operate in temperatures as low as 14°F (-10°C). In addition to the standard lens cap, the lens comes packaged with a domeshaped lens hood (LH-XF27) and a hood cap (LHCP-27). The lens consists of seven lens elements in five groups, including one aspherical element, which reportedly mitigates spherical aberration, field curvature, and distortion. It also features a high-torque DC motor for fast and accurate AF and measures 62 mm in diameter, 23 mm in length and weighs 84 g.
The XF 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS WR lens is an interchangeable zoom lens that weighs 580 g and measures 132.5 mm in length. It combines 17 elements in 12 groups, including one aspherical element and two, extra- low dispersion (ED) elements, into a compact and lightweight body with a diameter of 75 mm. The lens offers up to 5.5-stops of optical image stabilisation
(OIS) and can also be combined with the in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) systems found in the X-T4 and X-S10. It comes with a maximum magnification of 0.33x or equivalent of 0.5x in the 35 mm film format and features a minimum focussing distance of 83 cm. The lens barrel is designed to protect it against dust and moisture, while also giving it the ability to operate at temperatures of down to 14°F (-10°C). Using the compatible Fujinon XF1.4x TC WR and Fujinon XF2.0x TC WR teleconverters, the focal length can be extended to a maximum of 600 mm. Both lenses are expected to ship in March. The XF 27 mm f/2.8 R WR will be priced at USD 399, while the XF 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS WR will be priced at USD 799.
Coming to the X-E4, the camera weighs 364 g and measures 121.3 mm x 72.9 mm x 32.7 mm, making it a compact interchangeable-lens camera. It uses Fujifilm’s 4th generation sensor and processor and features a slim and sleek design with a rear tilting LCD screen. The camera sports a 26.1MP X-TransTM CMOS 4 sensor and the high-speed image processing engine X-Processor 4 along with phase detection autofocus points across almost 100% of the sensor to acquire focus in as fast as 0.02 seconds. It oversamples 6K footage to record 4K/30P 4:2:0 8-bit video to internal media, or 4K/30P 4:2:2 10-bit video via its HDMI port. It also comes with 18 film simulations. The X-E4 is currently expected to be available in March 2021 at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of USD 849.95.
