Panasonic Introduces New Telephoto Zoom Lens

-

Panasonic

has introduced a new interchangeable telephoto zoom lens, the Lumix S 70-300 mm f/4.55.6 Macro O.I.S. (S-R70300), based on the L-Mount system, for the Lumix S Series Full-frame Digital Single Lens Mirrorless Camera.

The 70-300 mm boasts high descriptive performance and beautiful bokeh throughout the entire zoom range, along with high-speed, high-precision AF and Dual Image Stabiliser (IS). The alignment of the 17 lens elements in 11 groups, including one ultra extralow dispersion (UED) lens, two extralow dispersion (ED) lenses and one ultra-high refractive index (UHR) lens, reportedly suppresses axial chromatic aberration at the tele-end and chromatic aberration of magnification at the wide-end. The company reports that its UHR lens, achieves ‘uniform image quality from the centre to the edges of the image, while contributing to an overall smaller configuration of the lens unit.’ It sports a minimum focussing distance of 0.54 m while achieving maximum magnification of 0.5x (at 300 mm). It comes with a circular aperture with an 11-bladed iris diaphragm that provides rounded bokeh. The camera’s Dual IS system combines Optical Image

Stabiliser (OIS) in the lens and the Body IS, enabling the use of 5.5-stop slower shutter speed. It also sports a rugged and dust/splash-resistant design along with a fluorine coating on the front element which repels water and oil. The filter diameter is 77 mm.

The Lumix S 70-300 mm f/4.5-5.6 lens will be available at channel partners from April onwards, for USD 1249.99 MSRP.
