Canon Announces PowerShot Pick AI Camera

recently launched a crowdfundi­ng campaign on Makuake, a Japanese crowd-funding site, for its AI-powered camera PowerShot Pick. According to reports, the camera combines Canon’s optical, video processing, and artificial intelligen­ce technology to study a scene, identify the subjects and click multiple snaps. The camera sports a compact and portable body with the option to mount over a Velbon tripod, offered by Canon as a part of the campaign. The device features a 1/2.3-inch 12MP CMOS sensor paired with a 19-57 mm equivalent zoom lens with a maximum aperture of f/2.8. It comes with inbody image stabilisat­ion, records to a microSD card, measures 90 mm in height and weighs 170 g. The device is designed to automatica­lly click images but can also be manually controlled using voice commands and keywords.

It is scheduled to launch with a smartphone app which will contain features such as sharing options, best photo recommenda­tions etc.

The Canon PowerShot Pick is expected to be priced at USD 400 (for investors only). As of now, no informatio­n regarding a global release has been announced by Canon.
