Sony Launches FX3 FullFrame Camera

Sony has launched the FX3 camera as the latest addition to its Cinema Line cameras. The FX3 flaunts a full-frame, backillumi­nated Exmor R CMOS sensor full-frame 10.2megapixel (approx. effective) count for movie recording

(and 12.1 effective megapixels for stills) along with the BIONZ XR image processing engine. It comes with a standard ISO range of 80 to 102,400 (expandable to 409,600 when shooting a movie) and a dynamic range of 15+ stops. Based on the colour science inspired by Sony’s flagship Venice camera, S-Cinetone profile look delivers natural mid-tones, plus soft colours and smooth highlights that add to the cinematic look.

It is a compact and lightweigh­t Cinema Line camera weighing 715 g, including the battery and memory cards, and measuring 77.8 mm (high) x 129.7 mm (wide) x 84.5 mm (deep). The buttons such as ISO, iris, and white balance adjustment are located on the grip and on the top of the body. Additional­ly, it comes with 15 custom keys and a sideopenin­g vari-angle touch-panel LCD monitor. The body features five thread holes (1/4-20 UNC) to attach compatible accessorie­s. It has a detachable

XLR handle unit that includes two XLR/TRS audio inputs. The camera features 5-axis optical in-body image stabilisat­ion which has an Active Mode that is dedicated to movie shooting in each format, including 4K. It offers

Fast Hybrid autofocus (AF) along with Touch Tracking (Real-time Tracking) and Real-time Eye AF. Other AF features such as AF Transition Speed, AF Subject Shift Sensitivit­y, intuitive control and AF support with manual focus have also been added. It also comes with a fan with effective heat dissipatio­n for uninterrup­ted 4K 60p recording without thermal shutdown. The FX3 Full-frame Profession­al Camera is available at select Sony Centers and Alpha Flagship stores at an MRP of INR 3,99,990.
