Sony Announces Ultra-wide Angle G Master Lens

Sony has unveiled the newest addition to its E-mount lens lineup with the introduction of the FE 14 mm f/1.8 GM (model SEL14F18GM), a compact, largeaperture, ultra-wide-angle lens.

The FE 14 mm features a compact optical design, measuring 83 mm x 99.8 mm and weighing 460 g (approx.). It is constructed of two XA (extreme aspherical) elements, two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element and one Super ED glass element. It comes with Sony’s Nano AR Coating II technology for subduing flare and ghosting.

The lens features a 0.25 m minimum focussing distance and a 9-blade circular aperture mechanism. It also features control options including, a focus hold button, a focus mode switch and a focus ring. For added customisation, several functions can be assigned to the focus hold button from the camera body interface. It comes with Linear Response MF for direct and precise manual focussing, an aperture ring and a rear filter holder that accepts standard sheet-type filters for ND, colour correction, soft filter, etc.

The lens sports a dust and moisture resistant design and the front (and rear) lens element features a fluorine coating that repels water, oil and other contaminants. The lens also has a built-in petal hood for blocking extraneous light that can cause flare and ghosting.

The new FE 14 mm f/1.8 GM lens is available across all Sony Centers, Alpha Flagship stores, www. ShopatSC.com portal and major electronic stores across India at a price of INR 1,62,990.
