WPO Announces Sony World Photography Awards 2022
World Photography Organisation has announced the 15th edition of the Sony World Photography Awards, inviting participants to submit their entries from June 1, 2021 onwards, via their official website.
According to the reports, the entry to the Awards is completely free and photographers are judged anonymously by a panel of industry leading judges. Photographers from around the world have been invited to submit their entries under four competitions, i.e. Professional (between 5-10 images across ten categories), Open (best single images across ten categories), Youth (monthly brief for emerging talent aged 12-19) and Student (for photography students across the globe). The National Awards program will also reward local photographic talent. All category winners of the Professional, Open, Youth and Student competitions will receive digital imaging equipment from Sony. Additionally, cash prizes of USD 25,000 will be presented to the Photographer of the Year and
USD 5,000 to the Open Photographer of the Year. All winning and shortlisted photographers’ works will be exhibited at the annual Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition in London and will then be toured internationally. The winning images will also be published in the annual Awards’ book. The deadlines for submission across the Awards’ four competitions are January 13, 2022, 13:00 GMT (Professional), January 6, 2022, 13:00 GMT (Open), November 30, 2021, 13:00 GMT (Student) and June 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021 (Monthly competitions with a changing theme -Youth).
