Nikon Releases Prime Lens for Z-mount System

Nikon has announced the release of the Nikkor Z 40 mm f/2, a compact and lightweight prime lens for Nikon full-frame cameras. The lens measures 45.5 mm long and weighs approximately 170 g, with a versatile 40 mm standard angle of view. The focal length becomes 60 mm (equivalent to 35 mm [135] format) when mounted on a DX-format camera. It has a minimum focussing distance of 0.29 m, features a 9-blade iris diaphragm (round-shaped bokeh) and is dust and drip-resistant. It has adopted a STM (stepping motor) that reportedly enables quiet and accurate AF control and the control ring can be assigned functions such as aperture and exposure compensation. As of now, no pricing or availability related information has been shared by the company.
