Tamron Announces All-inone Zoom Lens
Tamron has announced the launch of the Sony E-mount model 18300 mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD (Model B061), an all-in-one zoom lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras.
The lens covers a wide zoom range from approximately 27 mm to 450 mm in full-frame equivalent focal length. The lens features a 16.6x zoom ratio and its AF drive system uses Tamron’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism. It comes with an MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 0.15 m at the 18 mm wide end and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2. The lens features a 67 mm filter size and is constructed from 19 elements in 15 groups, including three hybrid aspherical elements and four LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements to suppress optical aberrations. Other key features include compact size (it has a maximum diameter of 75.5 mm and weighs 620 g), a 7-blade aperture, moisture resistant construction, fluorine coating, Zoom lock switch and has functions such as Fast Hybrid AF and Eye AF.
While the lens was scheduled for release on September 24, 2021, Tamron has reported that there may be a delay in the availability of the product owing to the ongoing global health crisis.
