Nikon Releases Prime Lens for Z Mount

Nikon has announced the Nikkor Z 28 mm f/2.8, a compact and lightweight prime lens for Nikon Z series cameras. The lens measures approximately 1.7-inches (43 mm) in length, weighs about 155 g and features a minimum focussing distance of 0.63 ft (0.19 m). When mounted on a DX-format camera, such as the Nikon Z fc or Z 50, the focal length becomes 42 mm (equivalent to 35 mm [135] format). The lens adopts a multifocussing system that is reported to realise natural rendering across the entire shooting range, as well as fast and accurate AF control, while maintaining a smaller body size. It features a dust and drip-resistant design, a ‘modern’ black finish and has a control ring which can be assigned functions such as aperture and exposure compensation. The Nikkor Z 28 mm f/2.8 lens will be available in December, 2021 for a suggested retail price of USD 299.95.
