Nikon Expands Z-Series Portfolio
Nikon has announced the Nikkor Z 28-75 mm f/2.8, the latest lens to expand the Nikkor Z portfolio. “Since the beginning of this year, we have announced numerous Nikkor Z lenses for all levels of creators, which have been commended for their unrivalled quality and edgeto-edge sharpness,” said Jay Vannatter, Executive Vice President, Nikon Inc. “Now we are continuing this winning streak by adding an extremely enticing option for enthusiasts in the rapidly growing fullframe market.”
The lens weighs 565 g, weighing approximately 30Ψ lighter than the Nikkor Z 24-70 mm f/2.8 S. It features a control ring for maximum customisation, minimal focus breathing and near-silent operation. The new 28-75 mm f/2.8 also features a minimum focussing distance of 0.19 m (at 28 mm). By employing a stepping motor (STM), the lens quickly focusses on moving subjects during still-shooting or video recording. The lens is sealed to prevent dust and water droplets from entry, enabling use in everyday circumstances. It also features antifouling coating for easy cleaning.
Nikon has also announced the development of the Nikkor Z 800 mm f/6.3 VR S, a super-telephoto prime lens for full-frame (Nikon FX-format) Nikon Z mirrorless cameras. It is a portable S-Line super-telephoto lens with a compact and light-weight body, being a PF (Phase Fresnel) lens. The Nikkor Z 28-75 mm f/2.8 lens will be available in early 2022 for a suggested retail price of USD 1199.95.
