Cosina Reveals Details of Aspherical lens for Leica Cameras

Cosina has introduced the new Voigtlander Heliar 40 mm f/2.8 Aspherical lens for Leica VM and Leica screw mount thread (L39) camera systems.

A compact quasi-wideangle lens based on Voigtlander’s traditional Helia type lens configuration, the optical design of the manual prime lens includes 5 elements in 3 groups, with one aspherical element in the middle. It has a filter diameter as small as 34 mm and the total length of the product from the mount surface is 21.2 mm. It measures 52 mm in diameter and weighs 131 g. The exterior is made of brass and comes in two types, silver and black paint. It comes with an aluminium exclusive screw-in hood and an aluminium cover-type front cap. The lens has a 10-blade aperture diaphragm with an aperture range of f/2.8 – f/22, a minimum focussing distance of 0.7 m and offers a 57 degree field of view.

Reports suggest that the lens is scheduled to be released in March, 2022 at a price of JPY 68,000 / USD 589 (Silver variant) and JPY 71,000 / USD 615 (Black variant).
