YPS Celebrates Golden Jubilee
Youth Photographic Society is celebrating its Golden Jubilee this year. The Executive Committee of YPS reached out to all the past Presidents and Secretaries and held 8 programs called “Nenapugalu”, a Kannada word meaning ‘the memory lane’. The Nenapugalu program aimed to provide an opportunity for the members and photo lovers to reminisce about the past, the struggles and the successes.
Having entered the Golden Jubilee year, the society presently has 320 permanent members, over 750 individual members and 38 junior associates from all over the country. It, reportedly, has the highest number of international distinction holders (140+).
Late Dr. G. Thomas FPSA, FRPS, Hon.YPS, late C. Rajagopal MFIAP, FRPS, FPSA, Hon.YPS and late E. Hanumantha Rao AFIAP, Hon.YPS guided the growth of YPS along with photoartists like T.N.A. Perumal, FRPS, MFIAP, Hon.YPS, and M.S.Hebbar, AFIAP, Hon.YPS.

YPS has reportedly organised 39 national and 12 international salons. According to reports, YPS All India Salon 2021 created a national record with 13,321 pictures submitted by 1,039 authors. The YPS International Salon 2021 also saw a record of 17,451 pictures submitted by 1,276 authors. As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, both these salons were made free for participation. All YPS salons have an open judging process that can be witnessed live (and webcast during the pandemic) by any participant or photography enthusiast.
The 8th Buransh Landscape Photography Workshop was hosted by the Buransh Himalayan Retreat, Kausani and Lens Maestro Group, Indore from February 23 to February 27, 2022 at Kausani. Thirty five participants from different parts of the country participated.
The workshop was inaugurated by Padma Shri Anup Sah on February 23, 2022. The faculty of the workshop included Umesh Gogna from Jaipur, Gurdas Dua from Indore, Threesh Kapoor from Kausani, Chetan Kapoor from Almora and Anil Risal Singh from Lucknow. The workshop included events such as “meet and greet” programme, trips to nearby places such as the Baijnath temple, Bijoria village and Girichina. The workshop also involved sight-seeing and faculty presentations on landscape photography, astro photography, food photography, etc. All participants clicked pictures during their stay and certificates were awarded to them during the valedictory function.
