Western Digital Unmasks Modular SSD Ecosystem
Western Digital revealed new innovations from its SanDisk and SanDisk Professional brands, including a modular SSD ecosystem and UHS-I SD and microSD memory cards.

The SanDisk Professional Pro-Blade Modular SSD Ecosystem enables users to swap out lightweight, high-capacity Pro-Blade SSD mags so they can carry terabytes of storage without excess bulk. “As a filmmaker, I spend a lot of time on location shooting. The SanDisk Professional Pro-Blade Modular SSD Ecosystem includes the Pro-Blade SSD Mag, Pro-Blade Transport portable SSD enclosure and Pro-Blade Station desktop SSD enclosure. The Pro-Blade SSD Mag is an NVMe SSD mag that powers the modular SSD ecosystem. It allows users to scale the storage they need. The ProBlade SSD mag is offered in 1TB (USD 179.99), 2TB (USD 289.99) and 4TB (USD 599.99) and is expected to begin shipping in June 2022.
The Pro-Blade Transport portable SSD enclosure is a portable and modular SSD for ultra-fast workflow scalability. It can be used to pair multiple Pro-Blade SSD mags with the portable USB-C (20Gbps) enclosure for up to 2000MB/s read and write speeds. The Pro-Blade Transport portable SSD enclosure will be available in 0TB (USD 69.99), 1TB (USD 239.99), 2TB (USD 359.99) and 4TB (USD 659.99) storage variants and is expected to begin shipping in June 2022.
The Pro-Blade Station desktop SSD enclosure is optimised for professionals looking for fast ways to ingest, copy and edit their content. The Pro-Blade Station desktop system allows loading up to four SSD mags at once creating a Thunderbolt SSD device. This will be available in late 2022 in the United States with pricing to be announced closer to product availability.
