s one enters the 2,500 sq. ft. apartment, a foyer having a floor-to-ceiling bronze mirror alongside an italian marble wall embossed with a mool mantra (holy text), occupies pride of place, whilst an interesting chandelier overhead adds a dash of drama. Throughout the house, Michaelangelo marble adorns the floor, whilst a combination of ambient, accent and work light anoint different areas, allowing a shift in mood with a mere flick of a switch.

“since i am passionate about all my projects, this one was no different. The only real challenge i faced was completing the project in a year’s time (actual productive hours were shortened due to the society’s stringent timings). To balance this, we customised certain furniture in our factories and also lamination works were carried out, which saved time in implementation,” explains Navin Nisar, principal designer, Spectrum Designs. While designing the apartment, the designer converted the original 4BhK into a 3BhK one in order to carve out a luxurious master suite complete with a spacious master bathroom and walk-in wardrobe section.

The highlight of this project is the sheer variety of materials used throughout different spaces: from Fusionero stone that clads the background wall behind the dining table to the natural veneer (with open pore treatment) for the background wall in the living and the latticed screen (CnC-styled chromium metal lacquer) in the living area. The effort and time spent in carefully choosing a wide range of materiality to define each space brings forth the designer’s diligence.
