Tan­za­nia To Re­con­sider Tan­zan­ite Ex­port Ban

The Tan­za­nia gov­ern­ment agreed to re­view a three­year-old re­stric­tion on the ex­port of tan­zan­ite stones weigh­ing over one gram at a meet­ing held in Dar-es­Salaam on Septem­ber 24 and 25.

The meet­ing was at­tended by Dr. Dag­gu­bati Pu­ran­deswari, min­is­ter of state for com­merce and in­dus­try, who is seen exchanging signed min­utes of the third In­dia Tan­za­nia Joint Trade Com­mit­tee with Dr. Ab­dal­lah O. Kigoda, the Tan­za­nian min­is­ter of trade and in­dus­try.

Also in at­ten­dance at the meet­ing were D.S. Dhesi (third from left), ad­di­tional sec­re­tary, depart­ment of com­merce, gov­ern­ment of In­dia, and Deb Nath Shaw (ex­treme left) the In­dian High Com­mis­sioner to Tan­za­nia.

Tan­za­nia was re­quested to re­view its de­ci­sion and dur­ing the meet­ing In­dia was as­sured that its re­quest shall be for­warded to the high­est level.
