What are the jewellery essentials that a woman should own?

According to me, a woman should not stick to earrings or necklaces. These days, a woman must have a haath phool or a nath in her jewellery trunk. These are not only in vogue but also have the ability to become vintage heirlooms. Also two-finger rings, maang tikkas and knuckle rings are other must-haves. However, keeping it simple is the key. It is best to flaunt and highlight one jewel at a time.

Your Enchantress collection at the IIJW was bold, seductive and fresh. Tell us more about the woman you design for.

The collection Enchantress is all about the enchanting powers of a woman. I think every woman in this world is beautiful in her own distinct way. The magic she has within draws other people towards her. My new cocktail collection is for the woman of today who is vivacious, loves to flaunt her jewels and promises to be different every time she steps out for an occasion. It is for the woman who likes to experiment with forms and shapes. I often use filigree and handcrafted jaali work in my collections. I would like to experiment with Mokume-gane, a Japanese metalworking procedure that creates wood-like grains in the metal for one of my collections.

How did you get into jewellery designing?

I have always been interested in artistry and design and I have always wanted to pursue something creative. I got into jewellery designing because I am fascinated with gemstones. I started my career with gemmology and eventually moved to jewellery design. There has been no looking back since then.

Where do you retail your jewellery?

In the beginning, I started selling through exhibitions. Today, I have my own studio by the name of Ra Abta: Rich & Royal Adornments in New Delhi. I also have tied up with various multi-designer stores like Anantam and Evoluzione in Delhi as well as sell online through www.perniaspopupshop.com.

What are the price points of your collections?

Pink sappire earrings from the Cocktail Couture collection.
