Winning Junior World Cup the highlight of my career

My worst nightmare is to wake up one day without anything to do with hockey.

Your favourite holiday destinatio­n?

Amsterdam, Netherland­s.

Earliest memory of playing sports?

I used to play football at school.

Have you tried your hand at any other sport?

Yes. I’ve also played cricket for my school team back in Jalandhar.

Favourite goal scored?

I think its the goal scored against the Uttar Pradesh Wizards in the semifinal match of the inaugural season of the Hockey India League in 2013. I was playing for the Ranchi Rhinos and it was our team’s fourth goal of the match.

Favourite sporting moment?

The Junior Hockey World Cup victory in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, back in December 2016 has to be the highlight of my career so far. It was an unbelievab­le moment to lift the trophy.

Your current earworm?

‘Kya baat ay’ by Harrdy Sandhu.

Pet name?

Mandy. It’s just a shorter version of my name.

Your one piece of advice for youngsters?

I would want the youngsters to always stay away from all the bad habits and concentrat­e on one goal — be it in sports or in any other field.

What’s your worst nightmare?

To wake up one day without anything to do with hockey.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?

Selfishnes­s.

Who are the pranksters in the dressing room?

Manpreet Singh and me.

What is your greatest regret?

I don’t have a regret, but there are times when I really regret whenever I feel I’ve been a bit selfish on the field, when I later realise I could’ve passed the ball to a teammate who was in a better position.

Sporting heroes?

Sardar Singh.
