served and volleyed to outlast Chris Evert, 18, making her first appearance at Roland Garros, 67 (5), 76 (6), 64, in a superb final to win the 1973 French Open. Evert led 54 in the crucial secondset tiebreaker. But Court hit two volleys winners, and Evert lobbed over the baseline, to turn the match around.
