Jamieson misses third Test, more problems for the Kiwis
New Zealand’s problems in the Test series against England were compounded by a back injury to Kyle Jamieson
(in pic) in the second Test in Trent Bridge. Jamieson couldn’t bowl in the second innings even as Jonny Bairstow et al. made a breathtaking assault to propel England to victory for a 2-0 series lead.
Jamieson was ruled out of the third Test in Headingley.
Kane Williamson’s return to the playing XI after missing the second Test due to COVID-19 was welcome, but the disease continued to haunt the team as batter Devon Conway, Michael Bracewell, and two members of the support staff have tested positive.
England has been fined 40 percent of its match fee and docked two ICC World Test Championship points for a slow over-rate during the second Test. Meanwhile, soon after announcing his retirement from Tests, all-rounder Moeen Ali has made a u-turn, indicating he will be available for England’s tour of Pakistan later this year.
