- Abhishek Mukherjee

After a defeat against Australia in the first Test, Sri Lanka turned it around spectacularly in the second even as the country simmered under severe economic distress. Galle, too, had a revolutionary atmosphere and on the field the home team enjoyed one of its best outings in recent years, defeating Australia by an innings. Debutant spinner Prabath Jayasuriya took 12 wickets while Dinesh Chandimal

(in pic) scored an unbeaten double-century.
