Benzema, Putellas are UEFA players of the year
Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and Barcelona women’s team midfielder Alexia Putellas won the UEFA player of the year awards.
Benzema scored 15 goals in the UEFA Champions League in 2021-22, while Putellas, last year’s winner of the Ballon d’or award and the UEFA player of the year award, scored 34 goals for her club last season.
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti won the coach of the year award.
